The Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP) is a voluntary program that offers landowners the opportunity to protect, restore, and enhance wetlands on their property. This program offers landowners the opportunity to establish long-term conservation and wildlife practices and protection.
The goal is to achieve the greatest wetland functions and values, along with optimum wildlife habitat, on every acre enrolled in the program.
Successfully completed Lazy O Ranch Wetland Restoration Project in Okeechobee FL.
- The wetland restoration work consisted of clearing and grubbing; structure removal; excavation; earthfill (construction of earthen embankments and ditch plugs); installing concrete box inlets and reinforced concrete pipe; installing corrugated metal pipe; installing rock riprap; land smoothing; and seeding and mulching.
